There are many factors that are wrongfully blamed for causing acne. Find out which ones they are!
Acne is a skin disorder that can occur at all ages, but it is most common in puberty, when male sex hormones (both in girls and boys) increase, causing the pustules to appear on the skin. In most cases, acne disappears when puberty is over, but some people can still suffer from it even in their forties, or later.
There are many wrong beliefs about the factors that cause acne. This article will explain the most common of them.
Many people believe that an inappropriate diet can cause acne, but there is no research that can prove that. Parents ask their children not to eat too much meat, greasy foods, pizza, chocolate and junk food. These foods are indeed very bad for you overall health, but they do not have any connection with acne.
Some people believe that stress can cause acne or that it can make it last for a longer period. But there is no direct link between stress and acne outbursts. The only connection between stress and this skin disorder can be that some people, when they are nervous, pick at their pimples, making them look worse and last longer.
Filth and sweat
Filth and sweat are thought to be very important acne causes. This is why many acne sufferers wash their face or shower excessively. Neither of these factors (dirt and sweat) can cause acne or make it worse, so do not wash excessively, because too much washing can dry your skin and irritate it.
People can inherit skin disorders from their parents. But acne is not a hereditary disease. However, you can inherit a sensitive skin, which is more prone to develop acne.
Most of the skin-care creams will not cause acne, because they do not close your pores. However, some of them can be too oily for your skin; therefore, to avoid any problems, it is better to choose oil-free cosmetics.
